Thank You:
Eva from Spring Mead Farm for her donation of Equasoy,
Taylor - is a 4 y/o Standard bred gelding. Sue got Taylor at the age of 6 weeks from her father in NSW. When Taylor was a yearling he liked to visit the older horse next door. Unfortunately while attempting to jump the fence to visit his older friends he got his back off side leg caught in the electric fence. When sue found him he was laying upside down and groaning. After months of TLC and cold bandaging Taylor eventually became sound again.
One day on the s.a.h site there was a plea for a horse from Melissa. She was desperate for a horse but due to circumstances couldn't afford the outlay so I sent her Taylor and she was able to pay him off. When Melissa got Taylor, he thought it was a real joke and decided he wouldn't cooperate. Although he loved Melissa he had her bluffed and acted like a real idiot. Melissa owned a western saddle so Taylor decided he didn't like it. When she went to ride him he just stood there and walked backwards. Things happened in Melissa's life and Taylor came back to Sue (he was always welcome). When he arrived back he was fine and let the kids ride him, then I rode him. He was fine. Sue was very curious to why he was stubborn from Melissa. Another girl came out to ride him and she had a stock saddle, all fine until they got on, he just stood there. He figured this wasn't his saddle and he wasn't doing anything with this strange saddle. A couple of days later sue tried an old wintec, he was fine, he just didn't like big saddles. Who says horses are stupid?
New Year's Taylor had another accident, when some people who were out spotlighting on adjoining property put him through a fence. He back nearside leg was cut to the bone. Sue started walking back to the house to call the vet to come have him put down, but noticed Taylor following her. She couldn't have him put down without having a go at fixing him first. There was about six inches of damaged flesh, which came away in 5 days. It's now been 3 months and he leg is still about 3 times the normal size. It will be at least 6 months when the wound has healed over properly. Taylor still trots around the paddock with the other horses. Needless to say this horse has a special place in all our hearts and as Joe says "He's not bloody leaving our site again".
